My little red chair..

I've always loved this chair.  It use to sit at the head of the table in the cottage my Great Grandfather built.  That cottage is why I'm here!!  My Mom and Dad met at "The Lakes".  So had Grandpa not built the cottage...Mom and Dad wouldn't have been at the lake and met!  Yea Cottage!

The cottage was torn down.  And the red chair was saved.  I really don't know how I ended up getting it...but it sat on my front porch for years.  I painted it once upon a time.  Then it sat in my Mom's garage for ever and ever.

When I found it thrown in the dump pile..after my Brother and Sister cleaned it out..I knew it was time.  Time to try my hand at "creating."  Creating a new life for the red chair.

So with some guidance from Tracy of York Mountain Primitives...I set forth (OK so it sat in my garage for quite awhile before I set forth at all).

Here is what I started with:

I know she taint to pretty.  But all you prim friends...I bet YOU all see potential.  Now mind you, I do not claim to be crafty.  I do not claim to be talented.  I do not claim to be creative.  But...I decided t try..after all...it couldn't look worse than this!  Right??

So here it is..in all it's glory.  My little red chair.

I kind of love it!

Thank you Tracy for your guidance.  I wouldn't have known where to start without you!

  1. Looks like we're both bloggin tonight. I love, love, love your chair. You bet it has potential. I am not the one however to tell you how to restore it. I do think it needs to be as close to the original as it can be though. It's just to wonderful to change much. I love the story behind it too. How special to have family heirlooms. Hang on to it girl. -Steph-
